Local residents and the City Council encourage environmentally sound practices in Jesmond. These are co-ordinated by the Jesmond Jesmond Eco Panel. The Eco Panel meets about 6 times a year and develops residents' ideas for re-cycling and other sustainable work. One recent development is the re-cycling collection in most streets in central Jesmond which is operated by SETA who collect bottles, newspaper and certain plastics twice a week from every home. The Eco Panel arranged a Jesmond Green Waste collection day in 2003 and may do so again in 2004. (Details will follow). The Dene & Heaton Eco Panel meetings as you should be aware are now being held on a monthly basis. The meetings are held the last Tuesday of every month at St Gabriel's Parish Centre at 7pm. The next Jesmond Eco Panel meeting will be held on Tuesday 2nd March 04 at Skills for People on Tankerville Place, at 7pm. If you have any queries prior to this or are unable to make the meeting please contact Helen on 0191 232 8520 extension 23542 or via helen.grant@newcastle.gov.uk Ward Stewardship Officer (Inner East), or Claire Green claire.green@newcastle.gov.uk |
