This First Edition of the Ordnance Survey map from 1864 shows only a few roads, some of the larger houses and the landscape features of Jesmond.

This map from 1847 simply shows Jesmond as a number of fields or plots, each with the name of their owner. The few black rectangles represent the only buildings at that time. The streams that ran across Jesmond from the town moor to the Ouseburn are also visible.

By 1890, most of the southern area had been developed into a residential suburb and by 1910 the northern half had also been developed.
